If you were tired of looking at a bent, CGI version of the Eiffel Tower, I have some incredible news for you.

Let’s cut the noise. Disney officially retired Soarin' Around the World. In celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary, EPCOT and Disney California Adventure are getting a massive upgrade.

As of two weeks ago—May 26, 2026Soarin' Across America is officially open and flying at Walt Disney World. Disney just released behind-the-scenes footage of the filming process, and it proves that Imagineering is going back to its roots. Here is the brutally honest truth about the new film, the confirmed locations, and the one seating hack you need to use.

No More Fake CGI: The Grand Canyon Footage

The single biggest complaint guests had about the previous iteration of Soarin' was the over-reliance on computer-generated imagery. Animals looked fake, and straight lines (like monuments) bent wildly if you didn't have a dead-center seat.

Disney listened. The official 2026 press kit footage shows Walt Disney Imagineering out in the field using real, physical heavy-lift helicopters and advanced drone rigs.

The highlight? A breathtaking dive directly into the Grand Canyon. The footage shows the camera rig flying low and fast just feet above the Colorado River, even passing directly over real-life whitewater rafters. It is raw, authentic, and exactly what this ride needed to feel magical again.

Where Else Are We Flying?

While the Grand Canyon is the star of the behind-the-scenes drop, Disney has confirmed a massive coast-to-coast flight plan. According to Disney Parks, the new ride features a sweeping musical arrangement by Bruce Broughton and takes guests over:

  • The Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor

  • The rugged New England Coastline (featuring the Portland Head Light)

  • The Alaskan wilderness

  • The Great Plains and autumn heartland

  • The deep Southern Bayous

Chuck’s Pro-Tip: The "B1" Seating Hack

Even though Disney is using real, jaw-dropping helicopter footage, they are still projecting it onto a massive, curved IMAX dome. If you sit on the far left (Concourse A) or the far right (Concourse C), the edges of the Grand Canyon are still going to look slightly bent.

The Solution: When you get to the final pre-show staging area, politely ask the Cast Member to wait for Concourse B, Row 1.

You might have to wait an extra 5 minutes for the next flight, but this puts you dead-center, in the highest possible glider. You get zero screen distortion, and you won't have a row of dangling feet ruining your view of the Statue of Liberty.

How to Beat the 2026 Crowds

Let's be realistic. This is a massive, highly anticipated launch. Standby wait times inside The Land pavilion are routinely spiking past the 2-hour mark by lunchtime.

Do not get trapped in a massive line while the Florida heat melts your energy. You need a strategy. You must secure a Lightning Lane Multi Pass early in the morning, or execute a flawless "Rope Drop" strategy by running straight to the ride the second the park gates open.

If you miss the morning rush, your best bet is to wait until 8:30 PM when the massive crowds migrate to the World Showcase lagoon for the fireworks. The lines will plummet, and you can walk right onto your flight.
