Universal just dropped the full details on their new Texas theme park. It’s called Universal Kids Resort, and it’s coming to Frisco, Texas, in 2026.
Let’s cut the noise. This isn't a replacement for Universal Studios Florida. It’s a "regional" park designed specifically for families with young children. Smaller scale. "Right-sized" rides. And a brand new hotel.
If you’re planning a trip to Texas or looking for a Disney alternative for your little ones, here is the raw data on what’s changing.

📍 Quick Facts: Universal Kids Resort 2026
The "Regional" Park Strategy
Universal is playing a different game here. They aren't trying to build a 10-day destination like Orlando. This is a "taste" park.
The goal is to capture the Texas market without forcing families to fly to Florida. It’s designed for a one-day visit or a weekend stay at the hotel.
The Vibe: "Childlike curiosity." Universal Creative says every detail was designed through a child’s eyes. Signs are at their height. Colors are brighter. There are even "sensory gardens" for kids to pause and reset.
1. Jurassic World Adventure Camp
Jurassic World Adventure Camp transforms the park's western section into a high-tech research station where families can explore the secrets of the dinosaur world. The highlight is the Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster, a family-friendly thrill ride that whisks guests through the jungle to help rescue a missing Ankylosaurus named Bumpy. For a more relaxed pace, Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin offers a twisting journey through the science of the park, while the Pteranodrop provides a breathtaking bird's-eye view of the entire resort.

The Reality Check: What’s Missing?
Universal is being tight-lipped on the financials, but here is the brutal truth about "regional" parks.
1. The Price Tag
While official prices are pending, expect a 1-Day ticket to hit 110–130 based on current Disney Magic Kingdom pricing. Annual passes will likely range 400–600.
2. The "Taste" Factor
This is a 4-hour park max. Do not plan a week-long vacation here. It’s a stopover.
3. The Traffic
Frisco is north of Dallas. Traffic on 121 and 380 can be a nightmare. Plan your travel time accordingly.
4. The Weather
Frisco gets hot. The Minions water battle and the Jurassic World queues need shade. The press release mentions "sensory gardens" but doesn't explicitly promise massive shade structures for the rides.
The Verdict
Universal Kids Resort is a smart move for the Texas market. It gives families a "Universal" experience without the flight to Florida.
But don't expect magic. Expect a smaller park, higher prices, and a lot of "right-sized" rides that your kids will outgrow in two years.
