Perfect for short hikes, families, or those seeking a taste of Zion's beauty without a challenging trek. Learn about the trail, accessibility, and park fees. Plan your adventure today!

Start Your Adventure at the Temple of Sinawava

Our journey begins at the Temple of Sinawava, the last stop on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Here, you'll find water and restrooms to prepare for your hike. Remember, the Riverside Walk trail is open year-round, but always check current conditions, especially in winter when sections might be closed due to ice.

Experience the Beauty of the Virgin River and Hanging Gardens

The Riverside Walk trail follows the serene Virgin River, offering stunning views of the hanging gardens and towering sandstone cliffs. This easy hike is just over one mile each way and is the closest trail to The Narrows without getting wet.

Take your time to enjoy the natural beauty around you. The hanging gardens are a must-see, with water seeping through the rock, nourishing the lush plant life clinging to the canyon walls. You’ll find plenty of spots perfect for snapping some Instagram-worthy photos!

Accessibility and Trail Conditions

After about a quarter mile (0.4 miles), the trail is no longer wheelchair accessible due to steeper grades and narrow paths. But don't worry, the journey is still manageable for most hikers. If you prefer to stay dry, you can turn around here. Otherwise, this is where the adventure to The Narrows begins!

The Riverside Walk is mostly flat, but be mindful of irregular paving and minor drop-offs. Remember, pets are not allowed on this trail, and while there's no activity fee, Zion National Park entrance fees do apply.

What to Know Before You Go

The Riverside Walk is open year-round, but conditions can vary. In winter, some sections might be icy or closed. Always check current trail conditions before starting your hike. Spring and fall are the best times to visit due to milder weather and fewer crowds.
