Expedition Everest Yeti fixed 2026: Animal Kingdom

Charles (Chuck) Sieber

8/22/2026

For twenty years, corporate ignored the biggest broken animatronic in the world. The "Disco Yeti" was our running joke. Our inside joke. Well, the joke is over. D23 just dropped a bombshell, and the beast is finally waking up.

I roasted corporate for this exact issue, weeks days ago. So yeah. I feel pretty vindicated. But there's a massive catch.

Disney is finally fixing the Yeti. And they're bringing a massive new Tropical Americas expansion to the park. Sounds great on paper, right? But before you book your flights, you need a serious reality check. Fixing massive rides and building new lands means Animal Kingdom is about to become a plywood warzone.

Here's the straight truth about the closures, the construction, and what it all actually means for your wallet.

Is the Yeti Finally Fixed at Animal Kingdom? (Yes — But It's Going to Hurt)

I can't believe I'm typing this. They are actually fixing the Yeti.

Back in 2006, the massive concrete foundation for the Yeti's hydraulic system cracked just months after the ride opened. It's been frozen in place ever since. To fix it, they literally have to cut a hole in the mountain and rebuild the structure from the inside out.

That means Expedition Everest is going to face extreme, long-term closures. If you're planning a trip to Orlando in the near future, you have to accept the reality. You might not get to ride the best roller coaster in the park.

DinoLand U.S.A. Is Dead (An Indiana Jones Ride Is Coming)

The rumors were true. DinoLand U.S.A. is officially dying.

Disney is bringing the Indiana Jones franchise to Florida. The iconic Dinosaur ride track is going to be ripped down and completely rethemed into Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. They're building a massive snake animatronic. And the first-ever Harrison Ford audio-animatronic.

It's going to be a phenomenal ride when it's done. But right now? It means a huge chunk of the park's ride capacity is evaporating.

Here's the problem. You're paying top dollar for a park ticket. For the next two years, the right side of Animal Kingdom is going to be a noisy, dusty construction zone. You'll be staring at endless green plywood walls instead of lush jungle scenery.

Pueblo Esperanza: The New Tropical Americas Land (Florida, 2026)

The entire DinoLand area is turning into "Pueblo Esperanza," a new land inspired by South America and Mexico. It will feature a brand-new Encanto ride where you travel through the Casita.

Should You Skip Animal Kingdom in 2026? (My Honest Take)

With Expedition Everest facing massive downtime and Dinosaur getting gutted, Animal Kingdom's ride roster is taking a severe hit.

If you don't care about the animals or the shows, this is absolutely a half-day park in 2026. Get in, ride Flight of Passage, do the safari, and get out before the afternoon heat spikes.
